Ushuaia is amazing. Commonly regarded as the southernmost city in the world (pop. around 60,000), it is located on the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego. It is described as having a "subpolar oceanic climate" (like the coast of Alaska) and "surrounded by Magellanic subpolar forests." Think "Twin Peaks," only stranger.
The town is surrounded by forests and mountains.
Our ship, the Infinity, against the mountains.
Expeditions to Antarctica often begin in Ushuaia; perhaps this National Geographic boat is going there.
