There's Santiago the city, but also what is outside of Santiago. Many tourists like to explore the vinyards. We went to Baños Morales, to the southeast, very near the Argentine border.
After a drive of at least an hour on paved road, and a bit longer on dirt roads (without benefit of signage), we came to this very funky place, about 1800 meters above sea level, and surrounded by the Andes. (We were traveling with two German friends we had met.)
We had a really good lunch at Los Chicos Malos.
The baths themselves are very colorful mineral springs.
This is a place for families.
