The article focuses on the painting to the left, entitled \u201cPainting of an Old Man,\u201d though it is thought to be a self-portrait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Highlights<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2022&nbsp;<\/strong>Icono-diagnostic is used for the retrospective diagnosis of neurological disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2022&nbsp;<\/strong>Congenital enophthalmos, strabismus and amblyopia are identified in El Greco&#8217;s attributed self-portrait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2022&nbsp;<\/strong>Right cortical lesion resulting in left side neglect is shown to be present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u2022\u00a0<\/strong>Agraphia consistent with left cortical lesion is testified by documentary evidence.<a href=\"applewebdata:\/\/869777FA-0CA4-4FA6-AAAB-FC9F22EBB83F#_edn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The similarity in both theories is that Van Gogh and El Greco simply painted what they saw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s of course possible that Van Gogh&nbsp;<em>saw<\/em>&nbsp;turbulence, even though it is \u201chidden\u201d to everyone else. Kolmogorov&#8217;s theory of turbulence is&nbsp;a mathematical framework for understanding how energy transfers through turbulent fluid flows. The strokes come like speech.\u201d Vincent Van Gogh. But his most important works are all distended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Vision of Saint John<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Surely this is a creative act, a new form of expression in painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Science has not been able to explain creativity. So, scientific attention to art is a piecemeal attempt to side-step creativity. Van Gogh and El Greco did not create new modes of painterly expression. They simply painted what they saw. In Van Gogh\u2019s case, he had an astonishing ability to see air turbulence.
